Kaba Ilco Kwikset KW1BR Key Blank

KW1 is the Kwikset keyway, the standard 5-pin residential Kwikset section used on knobs, levers and deadbolts across their line. If the cylinder you're duplicating for is Kwikset, this is the blank the machine cuts. It will not enter a Schlage SC1 keyway, and it will not work in a large-format or high-security cylinder.

Wrong blank for that hardware. KW1 only enters a Kwikset keyway. For Corbin Russwin, the blank has to match the master section on your cylinders, for instance the 027-6PIN-10 six-pin blank in the 027 section, or the single-section standard bow nickel silver blank for the standard Corbin Russwin keyway. Check the section stamped on your existing key before ordering.

These are Ilco (Kaba Ilco) blanks under the Taylor line, cut to the Kwikset KW1 section. Aftermarket blanks in a factory keyway, which is what most duplicating counters run. Order code is KW1BR.

Key blanks come uncut. You need a duplicating machine and an existing key to copy, or a code machine and the bitting, to make them work. Rekeying the cylinder itself also takes a pinning kit and the right pin stack; the blank is only the key side of that job.

KW1 is a 5-pin Kwikset section. If you're pinning six chambers you need a blank cut for six, which is a different part, the way the Corbin Russwin 027 blank is specified as a 6-pin key. For standard Kwikset residential and light commercial cylinders, five is what's in the door.

The KW1BR ships 250 per pack, so it fits a locksmith shop, a maintenance crew keying a whole property, or anyone running a duplicating counter. For a handful of doors that's far more than you'd use, though the blanks don't expire and a property manager standardizing every unit on Kwikset will work through a box faster than expected.
