1) I manage a property with an existing Taylor keyway. Is this the right blank to stock for duplicates?
For openings already running a Taylor keyway, this is the Ilco blank to keep on the shelf, and it is a replacement part rather than a complete lock or cylinder. The key point is picking the right style out of 1141, 1141F, 1141GE or 1141K, since those are separate keyways and a blank from the wrong one will not enter the cylinder. Pull an existing key and match the stamped designation before you order a box.
2) Is the Ilco Taylor key blank meant for commercial work or residential?
Ilco classes the Taylor nickel plated blank as a commercial key blank. The broader Ilco and Ilco EZ cylinder key line covers both commercial and residential blanks, so if you are duplicating a house key you may be looking at a different blank in the family.
