Kawneer KW033532-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW033532-29 housing assembly work on a left-handed exit device?
No. The KW033532-29 housing assembly is built for right-handed door applications only, so the mechanical alignment won't be correct on a left-hand opening. If your Falcon 1990 device is left-handed, you need the left-hand version of the housing instead. Confirm the handing at the door before you order, since a housing is handed and cannot be flipped in the field.
2) Is the KW033532-29 a complete exit device or just a part of one?
Just a part. The KW033532-29 is the housing assembly, the primary structural housing component of a Falcon 1990 exit device. You're buying it to repair or restore a device already hung on the door, not to hardware a new opening. If you need a whole device, order the complete Falcon 1990 exit device instead.
3) What finish does the Kawneer Falcon 1990 housing assembly come in?
Black, factory applied, so it matches existing black Falcon 1990 hardware on the other openings in the building. It is offered in that one finish, so if your devices are in aluminum or another finish, the housing won't visually match.
4) Do I need an aftermarket part or the OEM housing to repair a Falcon 1990 exit device?
The KW033532-29 is the genuine Kawneer service part, drawn from Kawneer's service parts inventory and engineered to OEM specification for the Falcon 1990. For a maintenance crew standardizing repairs across a fleet of doors, the OEM housing is what keeps the rebuilt device performing to the original installation's spec, and handing plus finish need to be matched per door.
5) Is this housing assembly suitable for a school or hospital door, or is it residential-grade?
It's a commercial-grade part. Kawneer lists the Falcon 1990 housing assembly for commercial door hardware use, with typical applications including educational facilities, healthcare institutions, office buildings, retail, industrial and warehouse space, multi-tenant residential properties, and government buildings.
