Kawneer KW035113 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Kawneer KW035113 flat strike fit?
The KW035113 is an AR 4501 flat strike made for single acting doors fitted with a latchlock. It is a Kawneer service part matched to AR 4501 door assemblies, so it is the right piece when you are restoring latchlock engagement on that system rather than adapting a generic strike to the frame.
2) Will the AR 4501 flat strike work on a double acting (center hung swing both ways) door?
No. The AR 4501 flat strike is specified for single acting doors with a latchlock, meaning a door that swings one way only. A double acting opening needs the strike arrangement built for that swing, not this part.
3) Is the KW035113 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket strike?
It is a genuine Kawneer service part, built to OEM fitment for AR 4501 door assemblies. For storefront and entrance work where the frame prep is already cut to Kawneer's dimensions, that matters more than on most hardware: an aftermarket strike often means re-machining the jamb.
4) Can I swap this strike in without pulling the door or the lock?
The KW035113 is a replacement flat strike, so the work is at the frame side: remove the worn or damaged strike and fit the new one in the existing AR 4501 prep. The latchlock and the door leaf stay where they are. The flat, low-profile form sits flush in the frame face rather than standing proud of it.
5) My Kawneer entrance door is not latching properly. Is the strike the part I need?
If the latchlock throws but does not hold, or the door rattles in the frame, a worn or damaged flat strike is a common cause on Kawneer AR 4501 single acting doors, and the KW035113 is the service part for that position. If the latch itself is not extending, the problem is in the latchlock and the strike will not fix it.
6) Is this flat strike rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The KW035113 is catalogued for commercial use and is intended for high-use openings in offices, schools, healthcare buildings, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government facilities, where the latchlock has to engage consistently day after day.
7) How many pieces come when I order the Kawneer KW035113?
The KW035113 is sold as the single flat strike component under one part number. If you are standardizing several Kawneer AR 4501 openings across a property, order one per single acting door with a latchlock.
