Kawneer KW035139-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW035139-29 and what lock does it go on?
The KW035139-29 is a radius faceplate, a genuine Kawneer service replacement part made for the MS Short Throw Lock. It is the flat plate that caps the lock case at the door edge, not the lock itself, so you order it when the original faceplate is damaged, mismatched, or missing after a lock service.
2) Is the KW035139-29 faceplate radius or square cut?
Radius. The plate carries a rounded-end profile matching the original Kawneer lock geometry, so if the pocket routed in your stile is square cut, this plate is the wrong shape for the prep and you want the square faceplate version instead.
3) Do I get the lock or just the plate with KW035139-29?
Just the plate. This is a replacement faceplate only, sold under Kawneer's service parts program. If the MS Short Throw Lock body, cylinder, or bolt is worn, those are separate parts and you order them alongside this plate.
4) Will this Kawneer faceplate work on a residential entry door?
No. The KW035139-29 is a commercial-grade part for Kawneer aluminum entrance systems, typically storefront and curtainwall doors. A residential wood or steel entry door does not use the MS Short Throw Lock prep this plate is cut for.
5) Can I use a generic aftermarket faceplate on a Kawneer MS Short Throw Lock instead?
The KW035139-29 is cut as an exact-fit Kawneer service part for the MS Short Throw Lock, so it drops into the existing stile prep without filing or redrilling. A generic plate is not matched to that geometry and usually means reworking the pocket, which on an aluminum stile is not something you want to do on an occupied building.
6) Is there only one version of the Kawneer KW035139-29 to order?
One. The KW035139-29 is a single-configuration part number, black radius faceplate for the MS Short Throw Lock, with no handing, size, or finish options to specify on the order.
