Kawneer KW037292-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kawneer KW037292-17 paddle pull left-hand or right-hand?
The KW037292-17 is the left-handed paddle. It comes factory configured for a left-hand door, so handing is not field reversible on this part number. Stand outside the opening and check which side the hinges are on before ordering; if the door is right handed you need the opposite hand paddle, not this one.
2) Does the KW037292-17 replace the whole latchlock, or just the paddle?
Just the paddle pull. It's a replacement component for an existing Kawneer latchlock exit device assembly, so the latch, lock body and strike stay in place. If the latching mechanism itself is worn or the door is not securing, replacing the paddle alone will not fix it.
3) Is this a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket paddle?
It's a genuine Kawneer service replacement part, listed under Kawneer Service Parts. That matters on aluminum storefront work, where paddle geometry and mounting hole pattern are specific to the Kawneer latchlock assembly, and a generic paddle will not line up with the existing prep.
4) What finish is the KW037292-17 paddle pull, and will it match my existing storefront doors?
Clear aluminum. That is the standard mill/clear anodized look on most Kawneer aluminum entrances, so it blends with existing clear-finish storefront. If the building's doors are dark bronze or black anodized, this paddle will stand out and you want the matching finish instead.
5) Is this paddle rated for high traffic commercial openings?
It's a commercial-grade part, catalogued for commercial rather than residential use, and the typical applications are office entrances, school corridor and egress doors, healthcare access points, retail entries and municipal exit systems. For a property manager standardizing a building's Kawneer entrances, it's the same paddle across those openings as long as each door is 1-3/4 inch and left handed.
