Kawneer KW050355 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Kawneer KW050355 part?
KW050355 is the bottom center pivot door and frame portion for Kawneer pivot door systems. It is the lower pivot hardware, not a complete door closer or exit device, and it is supplied as a genuine Kawneer service part to restore pivot action on an existing assembly.
2) Will the KW050355 pivot work on a non-Kawneer storefront door?
It's built as a direct replacement for compatible Kawneer door systems, so it should be treated as a Kawneer-specific service part. If your entrance is another manufacturer's aluminum storefront, match the pivot to that system instead; center pivot prep and offsets vary by line and nothing here states cross-brand fit.
3) Do I need a top pivot too, or does the KW050355 cover the whole pivot set?
This covers the bottom center pivot, specifically the door and frame portion of that assembly. A center-hung door also needs top pivot hardware at the head, and that is ordered separately. If only the bottom is worn or the door is dragging, this is the piece you replace.
4) Is this pivot rated for commercial entrance traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial only. The KW050355 is classified as commercial door hardware and is intended for high-traffic entrance assemblies, office and retail storefronts, schools, healthcare and municipal entries.
5) My pivot door is sagging and binding at the threshold. Is the bottom pivot the part to replace?
On a center-hung aluminum entrance, a sagging or binding leaf usually traces to a worn bottom pivot, since that component carries the door weight. The KW050355 replaces the bottom center pivot door and frame portion to bring the leaf back to correct swing and alignment.
6) How many versions of the KW050355 are there, or is it one part number?
One part number, KW050355. There is no handing, finish, or size selection to make, so ordering is a single choice.
