Kawneer KW091319 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Kawneer KW091319 guide pin actually do on a 1040 sliding door?
It is the inboard head guide pin for the Kawneer 1040 Sliding Door. It rides in the head track and keeps the inboard panel aligned so the door tracks straight and slides without binding. If a 1040 panel has started to drift, rub, or wander in the head channel, this is the part that guides it.
2) Is this a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Kawneer. The KW091319 is a factory service part built to Kawneer's own specifications, which is why it preserves the original alignment and travel characteristics of the 1040 assembly rather than approximating them.
3) Do I have to replace the whole head assembly, or can I just swap the guide pin?
Just the pin. The KW091319 is a targeted replacement that restores door function without pulling and replacing the full assembly, which is the point of it for a maintenance crew working a short service window.
4) I manage several buildings with Kawneer 1040 sliders. Is this the same pin across all of them?
The KW091319 is the inboard head guide pin for the 1040 Sliding Door system, so any 1040 opening takes the same part number. That makes it straightforward to hold a few on the shelf and standardize the repair across a portfolio. Note the position: it is the inboard pin specifically, not the outboard one.
5) Is the KW091319 rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. Kawneer classifies the KW091319 as a commercial-grade service part, and it is the part specified for 1040 sliders in office entrances, retail storefronts, healthcare and school entrances, government buildings, warehouses, and multi-tenant properties.
