Kawneer KW118401-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Kawneer KW118401-29 part, and does it include the frame side of the pivot?
The KW118401-29 is the door-portion top pivot for Kawneer Tuffline doors, in a black finish. It's the door-side half of the top pivot assembly only. The frame or header side of the pivot is a separate component, so if you're rebuilding a full top pivot you'll need to source that piece as well.
2) Will this Kawneer top pivot fit a Tuffline door without machining or modification?
Yes. The KW118401-29 is a genuine Kawneer service part made for the Tuffline door series, and it goes in as a direct replacement with no modification to the door. It's a like-for-like swap for the original door-side top pivot.
3) Can I use the KW118401-29 top pivot on a non-Kawneer aluminum storefront door?
No. This top pivot is built to Kawneer's Tuffline door series and nothing else is stated as compatible. If your door is another manufacturer's aluminum entrance, order that maker's pivot instead. Check the door stile for a Kawneer marking before ordering.
4) My Tuffline door is sagging or dragging at the top. Is the top pivot the part to replace?
A worn door-side top pivot is a common cause of a Tuffline door binding, dragging, or not swinging cleanly. The KW118401-29 restores the door-panel side of the pivot so the leaf hangs and swings correctly again. If the wear is in the header, the frame-side pivot is the piece to change instead, so pull the door and inspect both halves before you order.
5) Is this pivot rated for commercial, high-traffic entrance doors?
It's a commercial-grade part, catalogued for commercial rather than residential use, and Kawneer builds it for high-traffic door applications such as offices, schools, healthcare, retail entrances and municipal buildings running Tuffline doors.
6) Does this Kawneer pivot come in any finish other than black?
Black is the finish supplied for the KW118401-29. There is a single part configuration, so there's no other finish option on this pivot.
