Kawneer KW133647HW-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Kawneer door series does the 1686 lever handle fit?
The Kawneer 1686 lever handle, part KW133647HW-17, covers two groups of openings: standard door configurations in the 190, 350 and 500 series, and heavy wall doors in the AA250/425 and 350/500 series. If your opening is one of those Kawneer aluminum door families, this is the matching service lever.
2) Is this an aftermarket lever or a genuine Kawneer part?
It is a genuine Kawneer service part, sold as a factory replacement component for the 1686 lever handle. That matters on an aluminum storefront door, where the lever has to pick up the existing Kawneer hardware prep without rework.
3) What finish is the Kawneer 1686 lever handle and will it match my existing doors?
Clear Aluminum. That is the standard anodized look on most Kawneer architectural aluminum entrances, so on a building already running clear anodized doors the replacement lever blends with the rest of the openings. If your doors are dark bronze or painted, this one will stand out.
4) Does this lever handle come with the lock or exit device, or just the trim?
It is the lever handle only, supplied as a replacement part. The latching hardware it operates stays in the door, so budget for the lever alone and reuse the existing Kawneer lock or exit device unless that is what failed.
5) Is there more than one version of KW133647HW-17 to choose from?
No options to specify. The 1686 lever handle is ordered as a single part number, KW133647HW-17, in Clear Aluminum, so there is no finish or handing selection to make on the order.
