Kawneer KW137824-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Kawneer KW137824-17 part used for?
It's a parallel arm plate, the mounting plate that lets a Falcon SC60 door closer be installed in a parallel arm configuration. It's a genuine Kawneer service part, sold on its own so you can restore parallel arm mounting on an existing SC60 installation instead of replacing the whole closer.
2) Will the KW137824-17 arm plate work with any door closer, or only the Falcon SC60?
Only the Falcon SC60. The KW137824-17 is built as a direct replacement for SC60 closer assemblies, so if the closer on your door is another series or another brand, this plate is not the part to order.
3) Do I have to replace the whole SC60 closer if the parallel arm plate is bent or stripped?
No. The parallel arm plate is sold as a standalone service part specifically so a damaged or worn mounting plate can be swapped out without pulling and replacing the closer body. For a property manager or in-house maintenance tech, that keeps the opening in service with a much shorter job.
4) Do I need to order anything else with the KW137824-17 besides the plate?
The KW137824-17 is a single service part, the parallel arm plate by itself. It doesn't include the closer, the arm assembly, or a cover. If the arm itself is damaged as well as the plate, order those components separately.
5) Is KW137824-17 a genuine Kawneer number or an aftermarket equivalent?
It's the genuine Kawneer service part number, KW137824-17. Order by that number and you get the factory component dimensioned to the original SC60 assembly rather than a generic plate.
6) What finish does the Kawneer parallel arm plate come in?
Clear Aluminum, factory applied. That's the standard match for clear anodized aluminum storefront doors and frames, so it blends with most commercial aluminum entrances. It ships in that one finish only.
7) Is this parallel arm plate a commercial or residential grade part?
Commercial. It's specified for commercial door hardware work, typically aluminum entrances in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, and municipal buildings running Falcon SC60 closers.
