1) What wire sizes does the Klein Tools K12055 wire stripper handle?
The K12055 Klein-Kurve strips 10-18 AWG solid and 12-20 AWG stranded. The stripping holes are gauge-specific and precision ground, so solid conductor smaller than 18 AWG and stranded smaller than 20 AWG fall outside what this tool cuts cleanly. For most branch circuit work (12 and 14 AWG solid THHN/Romex) it sits right in the middle of its range.
2) Is the Klein K12055 stripper insulated for working on live circuits?
No. The K12055 is not insulated. The blue and yellow plastic-dipped handles are for grip and comfort only, not shock protection, and Klein states plainly it should never be used on or near live circuits. The knurled jaw on the K12055 grabs and twists up to three conductors at a time and forms loops for terminal screws, so for standard device work you are not reaching for a separate pair of linesman's pliers to pre-twist before capping.
