1) How do 8 pieces cover 10 socket sizes in the Klein Flip-10 impact socket set?
The Flip-10 set uses double-ended flip sockets: five color-coded sockets carry two sizes each, one on either end, plus two nested adapters make up the 8-piece count. The SAE version covers 1/4 x 5/16, 3/8 x 7/16, 1/2 x 9/16, 5/8 x 3/4, and 11/16 x 13/16 inch. Flip the socket to change size instead of carrying a second socket.
2) Is the Klein Flip-10 socket set available in metric, or only SAE?
Both. Order Cat. No. 65618 for the SAE set or 65619 for the metric set. The SAE set is the one with the 1/4 x 5/16 through 11/16 x 13/16 inch flip sockets.
3) Will these Klein flip sockets work on a standard 3/8-inch drive ratchet, or do I need a Klein tool?
They run on any 3/8-inch square drive ratchet using the included KNECT square drive adapter, so you are not locked into Klein drivers. The adapter is also matched to Klein's pass-through socket wrench. A second nested adapter gives you 1/4-inch hex drive, so the same set works off an impact driver chuck.
4) Do the small flip sockets fit the extension shaft from my existing Klein ratchet set?
The three smallest sockets, covering 1/4 inch up to 9/16 inch, stack and fit the shaft supplied with Cat. Nos. 65238, 65239, 65626, 652QS, 653QS, 634QS and 656QS. The two larger flip sockets are driven through the square or hex adapters instead.
5) Can I use these sockets on an impact driver for overhead strut and Unistrut work?
Yes. These are heavy duty impact-rated deep well flip sockets, and the nested 1/4-inch hex shaft adapter drops straight into an impact driver chuck. The 3/8-inch square adapter covers impact ratchets and wrenches. Wear approved eye protection when driving.
