1) Does the Keystone KT-LED7T8-24GC-840-D-CP need the fluorescent ballast removed?
Yes. It's a single-ended wired lamp, which means ballast bypass: the existing fluorescent ballast comes out and line voltage is wired to one end of the tombstone pair. Input is 120-277V, so it works on either a 120V or 277V branch circuit. If you want a lamp that runs on the existing ballast with no rewiring, this is not that lamp.
2) Can I put this LED tube on a dimmer switch?
No. The KT-LED7T8-24GC-840-D-CP is non-dimmable. Wired to a dimmer it will flicker, buzz, or fail. For dimmed spaces you need a lamp specified as dimmable, and the dimmer has to be a model the lamp maker lists.
3) What color light is this, and will it match the other tubes in my building?
It's 4000K, a neutral white. If your other fixtures are 3500K or 5000K the difference will be visible side by side in an open area, so for a partial relamp in one space, keep the whole space on 4000K.
4) Is this LED T8 glass or plastic, and is it safe over a food prep or school area?
The tube is frosted shatterproof glass, coated so it holds together if struck rather than scattering. The frosted finish also diffuses the LEDs instead of showing individual diodes, which is what you want in a corridor or classroom where the lamp is in view.
5) Does this Keystone 2 foot LED tube qualify for utility rebates?
It is DLC listed, which is the qualification most utility prescriptive rebate programs require for linear LED lamps. It is not on the DLC Premium list, so programs paying only at the Premium tier will not cover it. Rated life is 50,000 hours, which is the figure most rebate paperwork asks for.
6) Does this come with any wireless or networked control?
No. There's no wireless control, no onboard sensor, and no separate LED module or driver supplied. It's a plain line-voltage tube: power it and it runs. Occupancy or daylight control has to come from the fixture or the circuit.
