Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT Dummy Interior Pismo Knob Trim with Square Rose

No. The Pismo knob trim with square rose is an interior pack only, so the exterior handle grip has to be ordered as a separate Kwikset exterior pack. It is built to install with Kwikset handlesets, not as a standalone lock.

The knob itself is non-functioning, meaning it does not retract a latch when turned. What it does carry is the interior turn piece that operates the locking mechanism on the handleset it mounts to.

Neither. The Pismo interior trim is fully reversible and works on both left- and right-handed doors, so there is one part to stock regardless of swing.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is a non-functioning interior pack only, meant to pair with a Kwikset exterior pack, so it will not secure an opening by itself. For a complete single cylinder keyed entry handleset, the Schlage Residential F60 Addison with Accent lever is a Grade 2 entrance set for doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, and the Weslock 2810 Hillcrest with Hudson knob is a single cylinder set for doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. The Sure-Loc Aspen AN507 is a single cylinder keyed entry handleset with adjustable backset.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is dummy knob trim for the interior side of a Kwikset handleset. If you want a dummy function handleset as a full unit instead, the Weslock 6695 Belmont dummy handleset with Impresa knob covers doors 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Weslock 2815 Hillcrest dummy handleset with New Heaven lever covers the same range. Emtek also offers brass mortise dummy handlesets in the Memphis 3002, Hamilton 3004, Melrose 3005 and Manhattan 3006 styles.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is residential interior trim that meets ADA/ANSI A117.1 requirements, but it is a non-functioning pack rather than a graded lockset. When the drawing calls out Grade 2, the Schlage Residential F60 Addison with Accent lever and the Schlage JE285 Barcelona with Seville lever are both Grade 2, as is the Master Lock HDLBA0615/4D single cylinder deadbolt handleset in the HDLB Series.

Five finishes: Venetian Bronze, Satin Nickel, Bright Chrome, Satin Chrome and Matte Black. Since these are standard Kwikset finish options, a property manager replacing interior trim can usually keep an existing Kwikset handleset opening looking consistent by matching the finish already on the door.

The Pismo interior trim meets ADA/ANSI A117.1 requirements as stated by the manufacturer. Note that it is a residential-duty product, so for a commercial opening under a barrier-free spec you would normally be looking at a Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial lockset instead.

Not on its own. The knob does not operate a latch, and locking is done by the interior turn piece on the handleset behind it. For a keyed exterior opening, a complete keyed entry handleset is the right call, for example the Schlage F60 Addison with Accent lever (Grade 2, 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors) or the Pamex FS7P31 Lexington single cylinder handleset (1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch).

It is a residential product from Kwikset's Signature Series, rated for residential security and durability. For apartment interiors and single-family work it is appropriate; for a commercial corridor or an institutional opening that needs an ANSI/BHMA grade on the spec sheet, choose a graded commercial lockset instead.

Handlesets that publish a range covering thicker doors include the Weslock 1411 Traditionale Colonial with Eleganti knob at 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch, the Deltana 810871 Montego at 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Weslock 6695 Belmont dummy at 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch. The Yale Assure BYRD226NRRX touchscreen deadbolt with Ridgefield handleset also covers 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch.

Entrance-function trim and full entry handlesets are not drop-in replacements for the Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT, which is a non-functioning interior knob pack designed to install with a Kwikset handleset. The Baldwin Estates 6542 Tremont single cylinder and double cylinder entry mortise trim are entrance function for 1-3/4 inch doors and use mortise prep. The Baldwin Wesley handleset with Alcott or Carnaby knob is an entrance set, and the Deltana Hanover 803871B, St. Ann 815871 and Kingston 825871 are solid brass entry handlesets.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT gives you the interior knob side without a functioning latch. For a non-keyed handleset assembly, the Schlage Residential JE285 Barcelona with Seville lever is a Grade 2 non-keyed entry set for doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, and the Schlage JI18/19 is a passage function interconnected lock with Torino lever over the same thickness range. The Yale BYRD256 CBARX pairs a key-free touchscreen deadbolt with a Ridgefield passage handleset.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is a reversible interior knob pack and does not set backset on its own. Sure-Loc offers adjustable backset handlesets across several styles: the Aspen AN507 single cylinder keyed entry, the Alta AT507 tubular, the Coral CR507, and the Madison MA507 keyed entry. Those let you standardize one part number across doors prepped differently.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is Pismo collection interior knob trim with a square rose, non-functioning, offered in Venetian Bronze, Satin Nickel, Bright Chrome, Satin Chrome and Matte Black. The Pamex FS7P31 Lexington is a complete single cylinder entry handleset in a satin nickel finish for doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch. One is a trim half, the other is a functioning keyed assembly.

A screwdriver. The trim mounts to an existing Kwikset handleset prep and goes on in minutes, no drilling or special tooling.

The square rose is the trim plate shape behind the Pismo knob, a squared escutcheon rather than a round one. It is a styling choice within the Pismo collection; the part mounts to a Kwikset handleset the same way, driven by a screwdriver.

The Kwikset KWI-973PSKSQT is mechanical interior trim with a turn piece on the inside. If you want keyless entry with a handleset, the Yale Real Living BYRD226CBARX pairs a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth touchscreen deadbolt with a Ridgefield handleset for 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch doors, the BYRD226NRRX is the standalone touchscreen version over the same range, and the Assure Lock 2 BYRD410BLERX with Wi-Fi covers 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch.
