LCN 4030-3077CNS 689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the LCN 4030-3077CNS Cush-n-Stop arm work on a left-hand door and a right-hand door?
Both. The 3077CNS arm is non-handed, so the same part goes on a left-hand or right-hand opening with no separate handed version to order. You pick only the finish.
2) Does the LCN 3077CNS arm replace a separate wall or floor door stop?
Yes. The stop function is built into the soffit shoe of the arm, so the door is stopped at the closer arm instead of at a separate wall stop or floor stop. That is the reason to choose a Cush-n-Stop arm over a standard regular arm, particularly where there is no wall behind the door to mount a stop to.
3) Which door closers does the LCN 4030-3077CNS arm fit?
It is built for LCN 4030 Series door closers. If the closer body on the door is a different LCN series, this arm is not the one for it, so read the series stamped on the closer body before ordering.
4) What finishes does the LCN Cush-n-Stop arm for 4030 closers come in?
Thirteen finishes: 616 satin bronze blackened, 632 bright brass, 633 satin brass, 639 satin bronze, 646 satin nickel, 651 bright chrome, 652 satin chrome, 689 aluminum, 690 statuary bronze, 691 light bronze, 693 gloss black, 695 dark bronze and 696 brass. Property managers standardizing a building usually match 689 aluminum or 695 dark bronze to the existing closer covers.
5) Is the Cush-n-Stop arm strong enough for a high-traffic commercial entrance?
The main arm and forearm are both solid forged steel, and the part is rated for commercial rather than residential use. It is the arm LCN specifies where the arm itself takes the door stop impact, which is exactly the abuse case in schools, hospitals and office entries.
6) Does using this LCN arm keep the opening ADA compliant?
The 3077CNS arm is listed as ADA compliant for accessible door operation. Note that compliance on the finished opening still depends on how the 4030 closer itself is adjusted for opening force and closing speed; the arm does not change that adjustment.
7) Can I convert an existing LCN 4030 closer from a regular arm to a Cush-n-Stop arm?
Yes, the 3077CNS is sold as an installation accessory for 4030 Series closers, so the arm assembly swaps onto the closer already on the door. The soffit shoe mounts to the frame soffit, which is a different mounting point than a regular arm's shoe, so expect to drill new soffit holes rather than reuse the old bracket location.
