It's an electrically controlled closer/holder that holds the door open at any position along its travel, and when current is interrupted, the hold-open releases and the unit closes the door as a normal rack-and-pinion closer. It wires to a fire alarm panel on 24V or 120V AC/DC, so the release happens automatically on alarm or power loss. 2) How big a door will an LCN 4314ME closer handle?

Spec the arm and cylinder with the closer, and add the cover if you want the mechanism concealed. Note the cover is handed, so it has to match the hand of the closer.
