LCN 4642-REGARM-689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What door types is the LCN 4642 power operator compatible with?
The LCN 4642 works with single and pair swing doors. Verify door weight and width capacity with manufacturer specifications. Commonly used on commercial entrance doors, institutional applications, and ADA-compliant openings.
2) How does the auto equalizer function work?
The auto equalizer ensures both doors in a pair open and close in proper sequence. It coordinates timing to prevent binding or uneven operation. Essential for maintaining proper weathersealing and security on double door installations.
3) What is the difference between push side and pull side operators?
Push side operators mount on the side where you push to open the door. This configuration typically provides better leverage and is preferred for heavy-duty applications. Pull side operators mount opposite and are used when push side mounting is not feasible.
4) What are the power requirements for this electrohydraulic operator?
Electrohydraulic operators typically require 120V or 240V AC power. Check manufacturer specifications for exact voltage and amperage requirements. Ensure proper electrical connection by qualified electrician following local codes.
5) Does this operator meet ADA compliance requirements?
LCN power operators are designed to meet ADA accessibility standards when properly installed and adjusted. Verify opening force settings comply with maximum 5 lbf requirement. Consult local AHJ for specific compliance verification.
6) What mounting hardware is included with the operator?
Standard mounting templates and basic hardware are typically included. Heavy-duty applications may require additional reinforcement plates or custom brackets. Verify door frame construction can support operator loads before installation.
7) How is the opening and closing speed adjusted?
Speed adjustments are made through hydraulic valve controls on the operator body. Use manufacturer-specified adjustment procedures. Proper adjustment ensures smooth operation while maintaining required hold-open and closing force parameters.
8) Can this operator work with existing door closers?
Power operators typically replace standard door closers in the opening cycle. Check compatibility with existing hardware like locks, exit devices, and hold-open mechanisms. Coordinate with other door closer systems as needed.
9) What maintenance is required for electrohydraulic operators?
Regular maintenance includes checking hydraulic fluid levels, inspecting electrical connections, and verifying proper operation cycles. Clean mounting points and lubricate pivot points per manufacturer schedule. Professional service recommended annually.
10) Are there backup power options available?
Battery backup systems are available for emergency operation during power outages. Backup units ensure continued accessibility and egress functionality. Consult manufacturer specifications for compatible backup power accessories.
11) What door weight and width limits apply?
Door weight and width capacity varies by model configuration. Verify maximum door dimensions against manufacturer specifications before ordering. Oversized or overweight doors may require different operator models or additional reinforcement.
