Leviton 40681-GY Gray CATV Jack, Snap-In Connector

The Leviton 40681-GY is a gray CATV jack designed as a snap-in style connector for use in structured wiring and video/data outlet applications. This jack provides a clean, dedicated coaxial connection point for cable television and video signal distribution, and its gray finish allows it to coordinate with Leviton's broader line of gray-finish wiring devices, wallplates, and low-voltage inserts. As a modular CATV jack, the 40681-GY is intended to snap into compatible Leviton wallplates and multimedia outlet frames, giving installers a straightforward way to add a dedicated coax connection to a residential or light commercial outlet without rewiring the entire device box. Because it follows a standard snap-in form factor, it integrates cleanly alongside other Leviton voice, data, and video jacks on the same wallplate, supporting combination outlets that carry multiple service types from a single faceplate location.

Key Features

  • Dedicated CATV Connection: Purpose-built jack for cable television and coaxial video signal wiring at the outlet location.
  • Snap-In Design: Modular snap-in configuration allows the jack to be installed into compatible Leviton wallplates and outlet frames alongside other low-voltage jacks.
  • Gray Finish: Gray housing color coordinates with Leviton's gray wiring device and wallplate offerings for a consistent look across a jobsite or installation.
  • Structured Wiring Compatibility: Suited for use in structured media panels and combination voice/data/video outlet configurations.
  • Leviton Build Quality: Manufactured by Leviton, a recognized supplier of wiring devices, low-voltage jacks, and outlet system components for residential and commercial installations.

Leviton 40681-GY – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I put a coax jack and data jacks on the same wallplate?
Yes. Because the 40681-GY uses Leviton's standard snap-in form factor, it mounts alongside other Leviton voice, data, and video jacks in the same wallplate or outlet frame. That is how you build a combination voice/data/video outlet served from one faceplate location instead of running separate device boxes.
2) Will a gray Leviton CATV jack match the rest of my gray devices?
The housing is gray, chosen to coordinate with Leviton's gray wiring devices, wallplates, and low-voltage inserts. If a property has standardized on gray Leviton trim across units, this keeps the coax drop consistent with the receptacles and plates already in place.
3) Do I have to rewire the box to add a cable TV outlet?
No. The point of a modular snap-in jack like the 40681-GY is that you add a dedicated coax connection to an existing Leviton outlet frame or wallplate opening without rewiring the whole device box. You terminate the coax drop at the jack and snap it into a free port.
4) Is this coax jack suitable for commercial work or is it residential only?
Leviton lists the 40681-GY for residential and light commercial outlet applications, including structured media panels and enclosures, new construction and remodel low-voltage wiring, and home theater or entertainment cable drops. For heavier commercial AV distribution work, confirm the drop design against your project spec.
