Leviton SGVCK-E – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which Leviton volume controls does the SGVCK color change kit fit?
The Decora color change kit is made for the Leviton Decora Volume Controls SGVSM and SGVST. It swaps the frame and slider assembly so the existing control gets a new finish. It will not fit other Decora devices such as standard switches or dimmers.
2) Do I have to rewire or pull out the volume control to change its color?
No. The kit is a frame and slider assembly only, so the volume control body stays in the wall and stays wired. It is a surface-level finish change done in place, which is why it works well for turnover and renovation punch lists.
3) Is this an actual volume control or just the trim?
Just the trim. The SGVCK is a color change kit, a frame and slider assembly. There is no volume control circuitry in it, so if you need the working device you want the SGVSM or SGVST itself.
4) Will the light almond kit match my existing light almond receptacles and switches?
The kit is supplied in a Light Almond finish intended to coordinate with light almond wallplates, receptacles and switches. If your existing devices are ivory or white rather than light almond, the black version is the only other option offered.
5) Can I standardize the device finish across a building without replacing every volume control?
That's what the kit is for. Buying SGVCK kits in the chosen color lets a facility bring existing SGVSM and SGVST volume controls to a single finish without swapping out the controls themselves, so no electrical work is involved beyond removing and refitting the frame and slider.
