The LTGUS09G-A is built on a galvanized steel core with a grey jacket over it. That steel spiral is what gives liquid tight flexible metallic conduit its crush and pull resistance, and the jacket is what keeps liquid out of the raceway, which is why this type gets used for outdoor motor connections, pump and HVAC equipment, and washdown areas where rigid conduit cannot absorb vibration.

3 inch is a large trade size, and the LTGUS09G-A is sized for big feeders, large service or panel connections, and equipment carrying heavy conductor bundles. For a typical motor whip, disconnect, or rooftop unit with a few conductors, a smaller trade size of the same grey galvanized steel liquid tight is easier to bend and terminate. Match the conduit to the conductor fill you actually need rather than defaulting to 3 inch.

Plan on pulling a grounding conductor. The LTGUS09G-A has a galvanized steel core, but liquid tight flexible metallic conduit is only accepted as an equipment grounding path within limited lengths and sizes, and at 3 inch trade size you are outside the range where the flex alone is relied on. Run a properly sized equipment grounding conductor inside the raceway and bond it at both ends.
