Milwaukee 48-73-8523 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Milwaukee 48-73-8523 work glove?
The 48-73-8523 is the XL size of Milwaukee's lightweight work glove. It's sold under that single model number, so ordering 48-73-8523 gets you extra large only. If you're outfitting a crew in mixed sizes, you'll need the other size-specific model numbers in the same lightweight line.
2) Are Milwaukee 48-73-8523 gloves rated for electrical shock protection?
No. These are general work gloves for hand protection, abrasion, and grip. They are not insulating rubber gloves and must not be used for live electrical work. For energized work you need Class-rated rubber insulating gloves with leather protectors, tested to the voltage class of the task.
3) Can you use a phone or tablet touchscreen without taking these Milwaukee gloves off?
Yes. The lightweight glove has SMARTSWIPE built in, so you can run a phone, tablet, or touchscreen meter without pulling the glove off. Useful for electricians and techs logging readings or pulling up prints at the panel.
4) Do these Milwaukee lightweight gloves have any knuckle protection?
There is knuckle protection on the back of the hand. It's a lightweight glove rather than a heavy impact glove, so think bump and abrasion coverage while keeping dexterity for terminations, device work, and fastener handling.
5) Will these gloves stay put on the wrist, or do they slide off when you're pulling wire?
The cuff uses a hook and loop closure, so you cinch it to your wrist rather than relying on the knit to hold. That keeps the glove from creeping when you're pulling wire or working overhead, and it lets you loosen it fast for a quick on and off.
6) Are these Milwaukee gloves breathable enough for hot weather work?
They're built as a lightweight glove with a breathable lining, which is the reason to pick this one over a heavier insulated or impact glove. There's also a terry cloth sweat wipe built onto the glove so you can clear your forehead without removing it.
7) Is the Milwaukee 48-73-8523 a heavy-duty impact glove or a general-purpose one?
It's the lightweight, general-purpose option, not a full impact glove. Choose it for dexterity-first tasks like electrical rough-in, device trim, and MRO handling. If your crew is running demo, breaking concrete, or handling pipe and steel, you want a heavier impact-rated glove instead.
