Lithonia Lighting HGX LED 2RH ALO SWW2 120 PIR DDB M2 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How does the Lithonia HGX LED 2RH motion sensor floodlight behave at night - does it stay on or only trigger on motion?
It does both. A 300 lumen accent light comes on at dusk and stays on until dawn, giving low-level presence lighting all night. When the PIR sensor picks up motion, the two round heads fire up at full output for security, then drop back once motion stops. That makes it workable for a back door or loading area where you want some light all night without burning full wattage.
2) Can the HGX LED 2RH floodlight be mounted on a pole or an existing surface box, or does it need a recessed junction box?
Wall mount only, and it goes to a recessed junction box using the crossbar and hardware that ship with it. No pole or tree mount. If your existing fixture is fed from a surface-mounted box, you will need to change the rough-in before this one goes up. The heads are tool-less adjustable, so aiming is done by hand after it is on the wall.
3) Is this Lithonia HGX twin-head floodlight rated for outdoor and wet locations?
Yes. The HGX LED 2RH is UL/cUL listed to US and Canadian standards and listed for wet locations, with sealed lenses and a cast-aluminum housing. It is built for exterior service, and the lamp heads are thermally isolated from the driver to extend life.
4) What color temperature and brightness do I have to specify when ordering the HGX LED 2RH, or is it adjustable on the fixture?
You do not pick either at order time. The fixture has switchable color temperature (SWW2) and adjustable lumen output (ALO) selected on the unit itself, so one part number covers the range. Published output options are 2,150 or 2,600 lumens, and color rendering is 80 CRI. The only thing you choose when ordering is finish.
5) What voltage and wattage does the HGX LED 2RH draw - will it work on a standard 120V lighting circuit?
It runs on 120V only and draws 26 watts. That is a straight swap onto a standard residential or light commercial 120V branch circuit. Do not spec it for a 277V or multi-volt panel.
6) Is the HGX LED 2RH ENERGY STAR certified and does it meet California Title 24?
Yes on both. The HGX LED 2RH is an ENERGY STAR certified product and is listed to C-UL-US CA Title 24. That matters if you are pulling permits in California or chasing a utility rebate on an exterior lighting retrofit.
7) What finishes does the Lithonia HGX LED 2RH security floodlight come in?
Two: dark bronze (DDB), part number HGX LED 2RH ALO SWW2 120 PIR DDB M2, and white (WH), HGX LED 2RH ALO SWW2 120 PIR WH M2. Bronze is the polyester powder coat over cast aluminum. For a property with mixed trim colors, pick per building and note that both carry identical optics and controls.
8) How much wall space do I need for the HGX LED twin-head floodlight?
The fixture measures 7.52 x 4.53 x 4.96 inches. The two heads are round and adjust without tools, so plan clearance around the body for aiming rather than just the footprint. Tight soffits or narrow pilasters are the usual problem spots.
