Locinox USA 3006KR – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Locinox 3006KR blocking knob set actually do on a gate lock?
The 3006KR is a round blocking knob kit that fixes or frees the knob on either side of a gate lock. You can set it up with one side fixed and one side operational, both sides fixed, or one side blocked with the other working. That is how a standard ornamental or industrial gate lock gets turned into a free exit, dead latch, or store room function.
2) I need free exit on a gate but locked entry from outside - is this the right part?
That is exactly the configuration this kit covers. Blocking the outside knob while leaving the inside knob operational gives you free egress from within the property and controlled entry from the street side. It is the same kit that produces a store room function, just configured differently.
3) Is the Locinox 3006KR a complete gate lock or does it need one?
It is not a lock on its own. The 3006KR is a knob set recommended for use in combination with a gate lock where access control is needed, so you order it alongside the ornamental or industrial gate lock body it will control. Budget for both on the job.
4) Is the Locinox 3006KR knob set rated for commercial gate use or is it a residential item?
Commercial. Locinox lists the 3006KR as a commercial-grade item for gate hardware installations, and it is used on perimeter fencing, industrial facility access points, parking entries, warehouse yards and multi-unit residential complexes.
5) What is the Locinox 3006KR made of, and will it hold up outdoors on a gate?
The knobs are aluminum. Locinox specifies aluminum construction on the 3006KR for gate hardware service, which is the usual choice on exterior gates because it does not rust the way plated steel does.
6) I manage a property with several gates set up differently - can I use the same knob kit on all of them?
Yes, and that is the point of it. Because a single 3006KR kit can be configured as two sides working, two sides blocked, or one blocked and one working, you can stock one part number and set each gate to whatever function that opening needs rather than buying a different lock trim for each.
7) Does the Locinox 3006KR come in more than one finish?
One finish only, listed as Steel. There is no second color or coating choice to specify when ordering, so a property manager standardizing across a run of gates will get a consistent look from one order to the next.
