Outside that, Lockey extension kits stretch the range from 1/8 inch all the way to 5 inches, so thin aluminum sliding panels and heavy custom doors are both workable. Measure the door leaf at the point where the lock body will sit, not at the frame.
2) How much room do I need on the sliding door stile for the Lockey C150?
The lock body measures 5 x 1-1/4 x 1-3/4 inches, so you need a flat mounting area at least that footprint on the door face. The technical drawing shows the keypad face at 1-1/8 inches wide by 5 inches tall with the hook bolt projecting 3/8 inch. On narrow aluminum sliding door stiles, check the flat face width before you commit, because a lock body wider than the stile has nowhere to land.
3) Why a hook bolt instead of a deadbolt on a sliding door?
A straight deadbolt just pushes into a hole, and on a sliding door the leaf can be jimmied along its track until the bolt clears. The C150's 3/8 inch hook bolt swings out and catches behind the frame keeper, so pulling the door sideways loads the hook rather than releasing it.
