Keying is a choice you make on the order: keyed alike if you want one key to run several gates, or keyed different if each opening needs its own. The cylinder uses a Schlage keyway, so if your property is already standardized on Schlage keyways your locksmith can work with it. Order one keyed alike group per set of gates you want sharing a key.
3) Do I still get free egress with the Lockey ED51 if the gate is locked from outside?
That is the point of the kit. The panic bar releases the latch from the inside at any time, while the keyed cylinder controls who can get in from the outside. So a pedestrian gate can stay secured against entry and still let anyone push out.

A gate is not a door.
