Both. The 2131-20 ROCKET is a dual power light: it runs off an M18 battery pack or off an extension cord. On a job with no temporary power yet, run it on M18; once power is in, switch to the cord and stop burning batteries. A low battery indicator tells you when the pack is getting close.

The 2131-20 is the bare tool, indicated by the -20 suffix Milwaukee uses for tool-only items. You supply the M18 battery pack, or run it on an extension cord instead since it accepts both power sources.

The ROCKET tower light extends to 7 feet and sets up in about 5 seconds, so one person can stand it up and raise it without tools. That height puts the head above head level for general area lighting in a room, stairwell landing, or trench edge.

2,500 lumens of TRUEVIEW high definition output. That is area-light territory: enough to light a typical room, an apartment turn, or a work zone without stringing multiple hand lights. The head adjusts, so you can aim the output at a ceiling for bounced fill or straight at the work.

It is built for it. The legs are impact resistant reinforced, the light head is impact resistant as well, and a protective guard covers the head when the light is stored or in transit. That guard is the part that matters for fleet use, since an exposed LED head is what usually fails first in a van.

Pick the tower when you need hands free area light over a work zone. The ROCKET stands on its own legs, extends to 7 feet, and throws 2,500 lumens from an adjustable head, which covers a room so nobody has to hold or reposition a light. A handheld or clamp light is the better call for tight cabinet interiors, panel work, and crawl spaces where a tripod will not stand.
