Metallics M14B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a 4 inch magnetic bit holder reach into a deep electrical box or recessed screw?
That is what the extra length is for. At 4 inches overall, the M14B holder puts the bit well past the chuck so you can reach device screws sitting down inside a deep box or behind a trim ring without the drill body fouling the opening. For flush, open work a standard short bit holder is enough.
2) Does the Metallics M14B hold the screw as well as the bit?
It is a magnetic holder, so the magnet both retains the insert bit and magnetizes the bit tip enough to hang onto a steel screw. That is the practical reason electricians use one for overhead device and panel screws, where a dropped screw means climbing back down.
3) Does the M14B bit holder come with any bits included?
No bits are included. The M14B is the holder only, a single 1/4 inch magnetic holder in a pouch, so you will need your own 1/4 inch hex insert bits (Phillips, square, Torx or whatever the job calls for) to go with it.
4) How many bit holders come in a Metallics M14B pack?
One. The M14B ships as a single piece in a pouch, so order per quantity needed if you are kitting out a crew or stocking a van.
