Medeco CT-Y70 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What locks does the Medeco CT-Y70 tailpiece work with?
The CT-Y70 cylinder tailpiece is made to work with Arrow, LSDA, and Sargent lock systems. It is the part that transfers the turning of the cylinder to the lock mechanism, so it is what you order when the original tailpiece on one of those locks is worn, bent, or missing after servicing.
2) Is the CT-Y70 a tailpiece only, or does it include a cylinder?
Tailpiece only. The CT-Y70 is a replacement part, not a cylinder or a complete lock, so if the cylinder itself is damaged or you are rekeying to a Medeco keyway you will need to order the cylinder separately and fit this tailpiece to it.
3) Can I use the CT-Y70 when retrofitting a Medeco cylinder into an existing Arrow or Sargent lock?
That is the job it is built for. Swapping a Medeco cylinder into an Arrow, LSDA, or Sargent housing means the cylinder has to drive that manufacturer's lock mechanism, and the CT-Y70 is the Medeco tailpiece matched to those systems. It is part of the Medeco tools, parts and accessories line, so it is an OEM component rather than a generic fabricated cam.
4) Is there more than one version of the CT-Y70 to choose from?
No options to specify. The CT-Y70 is sold as a single part with one configuration, so there is no length, finish, or handing choice to make on the order. The only thing to confirm is that the lock you are servicing is an Arrow, LSDA, or Sargent unit.
5) Is the Medeco CT-Y70 tailpiece rated for commercial door traffic?
It is a commercial-grade part, catalogued for commercial rather than residential use, and Medeco builds it for high-traffic facility service. Typical places it goes in are office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government buildings.
