Mulberry 30589 1-Gang Weatherproof Outlet Box, Die Cast Aluminum, 2.750-Inch x 4.50

The Mulberry 30589 is a 1-Gang Weatherproof Outlet Box built from die cast aluminum with a powder-coated finish, designed to house a single switch or receptacle device in exposed or outdoor-facing locations. This outlet box measures 2.750-Inch x 4.50, giving installers a compact, low-profile footprint that fits standard single-device applications. The die cast aluminum body is engineered to be more resistant to impact and corrosion than lightweight plastic boxes, making it a practical choice for electricians who need dependable outdoor-rated hardware. Whether used in new construction or as a replacement box during a renovation, the Mulberry 30589 is sized and finished for real-world jobsite conditions where standard indoor boxes fall short.

Key Features

  • 1-Gang Configuration: Sized to accommodate a single switch or receptacle device for straightforward outdoor or exposed-location installations.
  • Durable Construction: Die cast aluminum body offers strength and corrosion resistance beyond typical lightweight plastic outlet boxes.
  • Powder-Coated Finish: The powdered exterior finish adds a protective layer against surface wear and the elements while maintaining a clean, uniform appearance across the housing.
  • Compact Footprint: Overall dimensions of 2.750-Inch x 4.50 keep the box low-profile for mounting in tight or exposed locations without adding bulk to the wall or surface.
  • Weatherproof Outlet Box Design: Constructed to help shield wiring connections from moisture and outdoor exposure at the device location.
  • Single-Gang Compatibility: Works with standard 1-gang wiring devices and matching weatherproof covers for a complete outdoor-rated assembly.
  • Jobsite-Ready Aluminum Body: Die cast construction supports repeated handling and mounting on typical residential and commercial exterior surfaces.

Why Mulberry?

Mulberry manufactures electrical boxes and fittings for installations that demand more than standard indoor hardware, and the 30589 reflects that with a die cast aluminum body and powder-coated finish built for outdoor exposure. The compact 2.750-Inch x 4.50 footprint keeps the box unobtrusive while still delivering the strength of a metal enclosure over a single-gang device location. Specifying Mulberry means equipping a jobsite with a 1-gang weatherproof outlet box designed for durability and dependable, code-conscious electrical work.

Mulberry 30589 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Mulberry 30589 outlet box metal or plastic?
It's a metal box. The 30589 is die cast aluminum with a powder-coated exterior finish, so it takes impact and corrosion better than a lightweight plastic weatherproof box on an exposed exterior wall. If your spec calls for a nonmetallic enclosure, this is not the box for that job.
2) How many devices will the Mulberry 30589 weatherproof box hold?
One. It's a 1-gang box, sized for a single receptacle or single switch. For two devices side by side at the same location you need a 2-gang weatherproof box instead.
3) Does the Mulberry 30589 come with a weatherproof cover?
The 30589 is the box itself, a 1-gang weatherproof outlet box. Plan on ordering the matching 1-gang weatherproof cover (flip-lid or in-use cover, depending on whether the location needs to be weatherproof while in use) plus the wiring device to finish the assembly.
4) Will standard 1-gang switches and receptacles fit the Mulberry 30589?
Yes. The 30589 is built around standard 1-gang wiring devices, so a common single receptacle, duplex receptacle or toggle switch mounts in it, and standard 1-gang weatherproof covers line up with the same pattern.
5) Can I use the Mulberry 30589 to replace an existing outdoor box during a remodel?
That's one of its intended uses. The 30589 is meant for both new construction single-device mounting and replacing an existing box on a renovation, as long as the opening you're feeding is a single-gang device location and the box footprint suits the surface you're mounting to.
6) Is the Mulberry 30589 suitable for an outdoor receptacle on a house or commercial building exterior?
Yes, that's what it's made for. Typical uses include outdoor receptacle and switch locations, exterior lighting, and small appliance outlets on both residential and commercial buildings. The aluminum body and powder coat are there to handle the exposure a standard indoor box can't.
7) What is the Mulberry part number for this 1-gang weatherproof aluminum box?
Order it as Mulberry 30589. That's the manufacturer part number for the 1-gang die cast aluminum weatherproof outlet box.
