Mulberry 86403 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Mulberry 86403 wallplate cover three GFCI receptacles in one box?
Yes. The Mulberry 86403 is built in a 3-block duplex/GFI configuration, so all three openings accept either a duplex receptacle or a GFCI. You can mix them across the three positions on the same plate.
2) Is the Mulberry 86403 a device mount or box mount wallplate?
Device mount. The 86403 fastens to the receptacles themselves through the device mounting screws, not to the box or a separate mounting strap. If your installation calls for a box-mount cover that screws to the enclosure, this is not the plate for it.
3) Is this Mulberry 3-gang plate standard size or oversized?
Standard size. The 86403 is a standard 3-gang device mount plate, so it will not cover the extra wall damage or oversized cutouts that an oversize or jumbo plate is used for on remodel work.
4) Is the Mulberry 86403 plate metal or plastic?
Steel, finished in white. That matters where a nylon or thermoplastic plate gets cracked or knocked loose, such as corridors, utility rooms, shops, and back-of-house areas in commercial buildings.
5) What is the Mulberry part number for a white steel 3-gang GFI block wallplate?
Mulberry 86403. That is the manufacturer part number to order against, and it covers the white steel 3-gang device mount plate with three duplex/GFI openings.
6) Can I use the Mulberry 86403 to standardize the receptacle covers across an apartment or office building?
It works for that if your openings are three-gang duplex or GFCI. The white finish and standard 3-gang steel plate repeat cleanly from unit to unit, and one plate replaces three singles at kitchen, bath, and utility locations. For two-gang or single-gang boxes you need the matching plate in that gang count instead.
7) Do I need screws for the Mulberry 86403, or does it use the ones on the receptacle?
Device mount plates like the 86403 mount through the receptacle's own mounting hardware, so the plate is secured to the devices already in the box rather than to the box itself. Plan the install around the receptacles being set flush and level, since the plate takes its alignment from them.
