Yes. The 50304330 has a 7/16 inch hexagonal shank, so it seats in a 1/2 inch chuck or in an impact-style hex holder. Greenlee calls for a 1/2 inch drill on all big shank Nail Eater bits, and this 1-1/4 inch diameter bit is in that group. A 3/8 inch drill is only rated for the smaller 5/8 inch through 1 inch sizes.

Cutting depth is limited by the 5 inch twist length, with 7-5/8 inches of overall length to the shank. That covers a single 2x4 or 2x6 stud easily, and it clears a doubled 2x plate, but it will not bore all the way through a deep built-up beam or a stacked header in one pass. This is the Shorty version of the Extreme, built short for working between studs and in tight joist bays rather than for deep runs.

That is what the Nail Eater line is built for. The 50304330 is heat treated steel, so it survives hitting embedded nails and stray fasteners in old framing instead of chipping out the way a standard wood auger does. It is still a wood boring bit, not a metal drilling bit, so it is meant for occasional nail strikes in lumber, not for boring steel.

It cuts a 1-1/4 inch hole. That is the common size electricians use when they need to pull several NM-B cables or a run of conduit through framing rather than the 3/4 or 1 inch holes used for single cables. If you only need one or two cables per bore, a smaller Nail Eater diameter will let you run it on a 3/8 inch drill instead.

Pick the Shorty when access is the problem. At 7-5/8 inches overall with a 5 inch twist, the 50304330 fits between studs, in joist bays, and inside cabinets or crawl spaces where a full length auger and drill body will not swing. Where you need to bore through stacked plates, multiple studs, or reach past an obstruction, a longer twist or a bit extension is the right call.
