1) Will the NGP 413 saddle threshold work under a standard 36 inch commercial door?
Yes. The 413 comes cut in 36, 48, 72, 84 and 96 inch lengths, so a 36 inch leaf is a drop-in with the 36 inch piece. For a pair of 36 inch doors, take the 72 inch. Anything odd sized, buy the next length up and cut the aluminum down on site.
2) How tall is the NGP 413 threshold, and will it clear a door bottom without regrinding?
The 413 profile is 1/4 inch tall by 4 inches wide. That quarter inch rise is the whole reason to pick a saddle over a bumper or panic style threshold: on most existing openings the door already swings over that much, so you are not shaving the door bottom or resetting hinges. It sits flat across the opening, 4 inches front to back.
3) Do I need to buy screws and anchors separately for an NGP 413 threshold?

5) Is a fluted top threshold slippery when wet, and can I get a slip resistant version?
The fluted top on the 413 is a ribbed surface that gives underfoot traction rather than a smooth mill face. Where the entry gets wet or greasy, NGP offers the SIA slip resistant finish as an option on the threshold. Standard finish is mill aluminum.
6) Should I use a flat saddle threshold or a thermal/bumper type at an exterior door?
A saddle like the 413 is a flat transition plate. It levels the floor change and takes traffic, but it has no riser or stop to seal against, so weather sealing has to come from a door bottom sweep or an automatic door bottom running down onto it. For an interior opening, a floor level change, or a door that already has its own sweep, the flat saddle is the right call. For a bare exterior door with nothing on the bottom rail, use a threshold with an integral bumper or seal instead.
7) I need a saddle threshold longer than 96 inches for a double door - what are my options?
The NGP 413 is stocked in 36, 48, 72, 84 and 96 inch lengths, so a pair of doors in a frame wider than 96 inches is beyond the longest cut. For those openings the Cal-Royal CR2000 and CR3700 saddle threshold series and the Pemko 272 series are the saddles to price out, and on a wide opening a butted joint between two 413 pieces is generally not acceptable because the seam falls in the traffic path. Measure frame to frame at the sill before ordering, since saddle thresholds are cut to the frame opening rather than to the door width.
8) Will a Pemko 272 threshold drop into the same opening as an NGP 413?
Not without checking the sill. Both are 1/4 inch tall flat saddles in aluminum, so the door bottom clearance and any sweep or bottom seal already fitted will behave the same. The face width does not match: the NGP 413 covers 4 inches and the Pemko 272 covers 6 inches. Swapping a 413 out for a 272 means the new saddle overhangs 2 inches further across the floor, which can foul a floor closer cover plate, a carpet edge or an existing tile transition, and the anchor holes will not line up with the 413 pattern. The 413 ships with #10 x 1-1/2 inch flat head zinc plated wood screws, so a substitution on a hollow-core sub-floor may also need different anchors.
9) Will mill aluminum thresholds match the anodized aluminum thresholds already in my building?
Not exactly. Mill finish is the raw, unfinished aluminum face, slightly duller and less uniform than a clear anodized or dark bronze anodized threshold. Across a fleet of openings where the rest were done in anodized, a mill 413 will read as a different piece. For back of house, service and industrial doors that difference does not matter, and mill is the standard commercial spec.
10) For a wet entry vestibule, is the mill aluminum 413 the right saddle or is there something with more grip?
