The SCG-M252-L takes cable with an outside diameter of 9 to 16 mm. Below 9 mm the seal won't compress properly and you lose the ingress rating, above 16 mm it won't close on the jacket at all. Measure over the cable jacket, not the conductors, before you pick the size.

It's a metric thread, M25 with a 1.5 mm pitch, and the threaded body is 12 mm long. That means the enclosure wall plus any locknut and washer stack has to fit inside 12 mm of thread engagement, which is fine on sheet steel or plastic boxes but tight on a thick-walled casting. A standard 25 mm knockout or drilled hole is what it lands in.

Yes. The gland is rated IP68 and NEMA 4, so it holds up to hose-directed water and dust, and IP68 covers temporary submersion. That covers exterior enclosures, food plant washdown, and wet mechanical rooms. The rating only holds if the cable is within the 9 to 16 mm clamping range and the dome nut is torqued down onto the seal.

The body is V4A stainless, the 316-type grade, and it ships untreated with no plating or coating to chip off. That's the grade specified for salt air, chloride exposure, and chemical wash environments where standard 304 or nickel-plated brass pits. Because it's untreated, the corrosion resistance is in the base metal, not a finish, so field cutting or scratching doesn't compromise it.

No. This is a non-armoured cable gland, straight body, and it clamps and seals on a smooth cable jacket only. It has no armour clamp or earthing cone, so it will not bond the armour of SWA, teck, or interlocked armour cable. For those you need an armoured gland with an armour termination.

Rated from -20 C to +100 C. The high end covers boiler rooms, kiln areas, and motor terminal boxes; the low end means unheated outdoor enclosures in most climates are fine, but deep-freeze rooms or far-north winter service below -20 C are outside the rating. Check the cable jacket rating too, since it is often the lower of the two.
