NSi IPL-C Polaris Vision Tap™ Insulated Multi-Tap Connector, SSE

The NSi Industries Polaris Vision Tap™ is a family of insulated, Single-Sided Entry (SSE) multi-tap connectors engineered for reliable wire termination in electrical distribution and service work. This connector line is available in wire ranges from 4 – 14 AWG up to 1/0 – 14 AWG, supporting Class B & C conductors, and is offered in both 3-Port and 4-Port configurations to match the tap requirements of a given installation. Every version is molded from clear Plastisol insulation rated 600V and 90° C, and is built to cULus standards for dry-location wire termination applications where a compact, code-compliant tap connection is required.

Key Features

  • Wire Range: Configurations accept wire ranges from 4 – 14 AWG up to 1/0 – 14 AWG, covering a wide span of Class B & C conductor sizes.
  • Port Count Options: Available in 3-Port and 4-Port Single-Sided Entry (SSE) configurations, allowing multiple conductors to be terminated from a single entry point.
  • Durable Construction: Molded from clear Plastisol material for durable, long-lasting insulation over every tap connection.
  • Voltage Rating: Rated 600V for standard electrical distribution and service entrance applications.
  • Temperature Rating: Rated to 90° C for continued performance under normal operating loads.
  • Clear Housing: Clear color body allows for visual inspection of conductor placement and connection integrity across every port and wire size.
  • Application: Purpose-built for wire termination in multi-tap electrical connections.
  • Environmental Conditions: Designed for dry locations only, suited to interior panelboard and enclosure installations.

NSi IPL4-3C – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What wire sizes will the NSi Polaris Vision Tap multi-tap connector accept?
The Polaris Vision Tap insulated multi-tap connector covers 1/0 AWG down to 14 AWG on the IPL1/0-3C, and 4 AWG down to 14 AWG on the IPL4-3C and IPL4-4C. All ports accept Class B and Class C stranded conductors, so you can land a larger feeder and tap several smaller branch conductors off the same body. Pick the version by your largest conductor: anything above 4 AWG needs the 1/0 body.
2) Can I use this Polaris connector outdoors or in a wet pull box?
No. The Vision Tap is rated for dry locations only, so it belongs inside panelboards, enclosures and interior junction boxes. For a wet or damp location you need a submersible-rated tap connector instead, not this one.
3) Should I order the 3-port or the 4-port Polaris connector?
Count every conductor going into the connector, including the incoming feeder. Three total conductors takes the 3-port body (IPL1/0-3C for up to 1/0 AWG, IPL4-3C for 4 AWG and smaller); four conductors takes the IPL4-4C, which is offered in the 4 to 14 AWG range. An unused port is acceptable, but you cannot land two conductors in one port.
4) Is the Polaris Vision Tap connector rated for 480V three-phase distribution?
Yes. The Vision Tap is rated 600V with a 90 degree C conductor temperature rating, which covers 120/208, 277/480 and standard service entrance work. The 90 degree C rating means it will accept THHN and XHHW conductors at their normal insulation temperature.
5) What does Single-Sided Entry mean on a multi-tap connector, and when would I want it instead of a dual-entry type?
Single-Sided Entry means every conductor enters the connector from the same face. All three (or four) ports line up on one side, so you can feed the run and the taps in from one direction and keep the wires bundled in a tight gutter or panel wireway. Dual-entry bodies take conductors from both ends, which suits an in-line run where the feeder comes in one side and continues out the other. If your taps all originate from one side of the enclosure, the SSE body keeps the bends shorter.
6) Can I tap aluminum conductors with the Polaris Vision Tap, or copper only?
The rated wire type on the Vision Tap is Class B and Class C stranded conductor in the 1/0 to 14 AWG range. Match your conductor class to that before ordering; for anything outside Class B or C stranding, use a connector rated for that construction.
7) Will the Polaris multi-tap connector work for splitting a feeder to several panels in a commercial building?
That is the job it is built for. A single body terminates the incoming feeder plus two or three taps from one entry face, rated 600V and 90 degrees C, so it handles distribution and service entrance taps inside dry panelboards and gutters. Keep the whole assembly in a dry, enclosed location.
8) Why is the Polaris tap connector body clear?
The insulation is clear Plastisol, so the conductor ends and setscrews stay visible after the cover is on. That lets you or an inspector confirm each conductor is fully seated in its port without cutting the insulation open.
