Metallics JNN161 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics JNN161 a nylon insert lock nut or a plain hex nut?
It is a nylon (Ny) hex nut in 10-24. The nylon element gives thread resistance so the nut resists backing off under vibration, which is why it gets specified on fixture and equipment mounting rather than a plain finished hex nut.
2) How many nuts come in a jar of Metallics JNN161?
100 pieces per jar. The JNN161 ships as a jar pack, which is the usual way an electrician or MRO stockroom carries 10-24 nuts on the truck or on a shelf rather than loose counts.
3) Can I use the Metallics JNN161 10-24 nylon nut where the assembly gets taken apart and put back together?
A nylon-element nut is intended for limited reuse. The nylon deforms around the thread the first time it is run on, so repeated removal and reinstallation reduces the locking effect. For a panel or fixture that is serviced regularly, plan on replacing the nut rather than reusing it, which is part of why it is sold 100 to a jar.
