Metallics TPABN3816 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What thread size is the Metallics TPABN3816 breakaway nut?
It's a 3/8-16 nut, so it threads onto 3/8 inch coarse-thread rod or bolts. If your rod is 3/8-16 all-thread, this one runs on it; a 3/8-24 fine thread will not.
2) What is a breakaway nut used for on an electrical install?
A breakaway nut is tightened until the driving portion snaps off at a set point, which leaves a consistent clamp load and a nut that can't easily be backed off with a standard wrench. The Metallics TPABN3816 is the 3/8-16 aluminum version of that nut.
3) Is the Metallics TPABN3816 nut steel or aluminum?
Aluminum. That matters if you're pairing it with aluminum conductors or aluminum hardware, where mixing in a steel fastener introduces a dissimilar-metal contact.
4) How many nuts come in a box of Metallics TPABN3816?
100 pieces per box. For a crew ordering by the opening or by the run, that's one box covering 100 terminations at 3/8-16.
5) What part number should I order for the Metallics 3/8-16 aluminum breakaway nut?
Order Metallics TPABN3816. That's the manufacturer part number for the 3/8-16 aluminum breakaway nut supplied 100 to a box.
