Metallics JTLN2SS Nuts 8-32 Hx Keps Locknut SS (Jar 100)

No separate washer needed. A keps nut has a free-spinning toothed washer captive on the nut face, so the washer stays with the nut and the teeth bite as you tighten. On the JTLN2SS that washer measures 0.370 to 0.381 inch outside diameter, so it spreads load over a slightly wider footprint than the hex alone (0.332 to 0.344 inch across the flats). On soft coatings the teeth will score through the finish, which is how it locks and bonds, so plan for that on finished surfaces.

The JTLN2SS is 18-8 stainless steel, the austenitic grade commonly used for corrosion resistance in wet and outdoor assemblies. That makes it a better choice than zinc-plated steel for exterior enclosures, damp locations, and washdown areas. Keep in mind stainless on stainless threads can gall if run down fast and dry.

Across the flats the nut runs 0.332 to 0.344 inch, so an 11/32 inch socket or nut driver fits it. Overall width including the washer is 0.378 to 0.397 inch, which is what matters if you're working in a tight channel or next to a raised edge, and height is 0.117 to 0.130 inch.

Each jar holds 100 nuts and that jar is the order minimum, 100 count. Jar packaging keeps them from scattering in a van drawer or on a cart. Other sizes and quantities can be had by request.

Keps nuts lock mechanically, with hardened washer teeth digging into the mating surface, so they resist loosening from vibration and they are reusable without the heat limit of a nylon insert. The JTLN2SS washer is hardened to Rockwell C40-50, which is what lets the teeth bite rather than flatten. Where you cannot tolerate the teeth marking a finished or thin sheet surface, a nylon insert locknut is the better pick since it grips the thread rather than the panel.

The packaged jar runs 0.33 lbs, with a jar footprint of 3 by 3 inches and 2.15 inches tall. Light enough to stock several thread sizes in one parts bin drawer.
