NUVO Lighting 60-1286 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the NUVO 60-1286 vanity bar come with bulbs, and what type does it take?
Bulbs are sold separately. The 60-1286 takes six E26 medium base lamps in a Type G (globe) shape, which is the usual look for a racetrack vanity bar where the lamps are exposed. Fixture wattage is rated at 100W.
2) How much wall space do I need for a 6-light 36 inch racetrack vanity bar?
Plan for a 36 inch run. The 60-1286 measures 36 inches wide by 4.75 inches high and projects 2 inches off the wall, so it clears a standard medicine cabinet door swing and suits a 36 inch or wider vanity. The fixture weighs 3.89 lbs, light enough for a standard wall box.
3) Is this NUVO vanity light ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family bathroom?
Yes. The 60-1286 is listed ADA compliant, and its 2 inch extension keeps it inside the 4 inch maximum protrusion that drives ADA wall-mount clearance. It is also cULus safety listed and RoHS compliant, which is what most institutional specs ask for.
4) Can I put this vanity light over a shower or in a wet area?
No. The 60-1286 is rated for damp locations and indoor use only, so it works over a bathroom vanity or in a powder room where it gets steam, but not in a shower enclosure, over a tub with direct spray, or outdoors. Those need a wet-location rated fixture.
5) Can I put the NUVO 60-1286 vanity bar on a dimmer?
Dimming is lamp dependent. The fixture has no driver of its own, it is an incandescent-technology bar wired for 120V line voltage, so it dims if you install dimmable E26 lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer. Standard incandescent or halogen G globes dim on a common incandescent dimmer; if you go LED, match the lamp to an LED-rated dimmer.
6) Can this fixture be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally?
The 60-1286 is a wall-mounted bar. At 36 inches long with six lamps it is intended to run horizontally above a mirror or vanity; it is not a sconce and there is no ceiling mount option. Mount it to a standard wall junction box centered on the vanity.
7) Is there a Prop 65 warning on this NUVO vanity fixture?
Yes, lead is the listed California Prop 65 chemical for the 60-1286. That matters for procurement paperwork on California jobs; the fixture itself is cULus safety listed and RoHS compliant.
