NUVO Lighting 60-299 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much wall space do I need for the NUVO 60-299 8-light racetrack vanity bar?
Plan on a full 48 inches of clear wall width. The 60-299 measures 48 inches wide by 4.75 inches high and projects only 2 inches off the wall, so it sits tight over a wide double-sink vanity or a long mirror without crowding anyone at the sink.
2) Does the NUVO 60-299 vanity fixture come with bulbs, and what bulbs does it take?
Bulbs are not included. The 60-299 takes eight medium E26 base lamps, and the fixture is built around Type G (globe) shape bulbs, which is what gives the racetrack bar its look. Order lamps separately with the fixture.
3) Is this racetrack vanity bar ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family bathroom?
Yes, the 60-299 is ADA compliant, and its 2 inch extension is what makes that work, since it stays inside the projection limit for a wall-mounted fixture in a circulation path. It is also cULus safety listed and RoHS compliant, which covers the usual spec requirements on institutional and multi-family jobs.
4) Can I install this 48 inch vanity light over a shower or in an open bathroom?
The 60-299 is an indoor fixture with a damp location rating, so it is fine for a bathroom where it will see steam and humidity, including above a vanity near a tub. It is not wet location rated, so keep it out of direct spray inside a shower enclosure and off exterior walls.
5) What is the maximum wattage per socket on this 8-light racetrack vanity?
The 60-299 is rated 100W and runs on 120V. Treat 100W as the per-socket ceiling for the medium base lamps and stay at or below it; with eight globe lamps installed, total load and heat are real considerations in a small bath, which is why many buyers lamp it with low-wattage LED globes instead of incandescent.
6) Can the NUVO 60-299 vanity light be dimmed?
Dimming on the 60-299 is lamp dependent. The fixture itself has no driver or integrated LED, so whether it dims comes down to the E26 lamps you put in it and the dimmer on the wall. Incandescent or dimmable LED globes will dim; non-dimmable LEDs will not.
7) What finish does the 8-light racetrack vanity come in, and what is it made of?
Polished chrome is the finish offered on the 60-299. Construction is glass and metal, and the styling is utility, the straight racetrack bar look rather than a decorative transitional fixture. If you are standardizing units, chrome is the only option here, so pair it with chrome faucets and accessories.
8) Is the NUVO 60-299 vanity bar heavy enough to need blocking in the wall?
At 5.39 lbs it is a light fixture for its size. The 60-299 is wall mounted and lands on a standard wall box, so no special blocking is needed, though with a 48 inch body spanning well past the box, hitting it level matters more than carrying the weight.
9) Does this NUVO vanity fixture have a Prop 65 warning?
Yes. Lead is the listed California Prop 65 chemical for the 60-299, which is common on metal lighting housings. If you are shipping to a California job, the warning needs to carry through to the end user.
10) Does the 60-299 vanity light offer selectable color temperature?
No. There is no CCT selection on the 60-299 because it is a lamp-based incandescent-style fixture with no integrated LED. Color temperature is entirely set by the E26 globe lamps you choose, which is actually useful if you want to standardize 2700K or 3000K across a building with one bulb order.
