NUVO Lighting 60-353 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Will the NUVO 60-353 Empire vanity light fit above a standard bathroom mirror or medicine cabinet?
The Empire 60-353 is a two-light wall vanity measuring 14.88 inches wide, 6.13 inches high, with an 8 inch extension off the wall. That 8 inch projection is the number to check against a medicine cabinet door swing or a mirror that sits proud of the wall. It mounts to the wall over a standard outlet box.
    2) What bulbs do I need to order with the NUVO Empire 60-353, and are any included?
Bulbs are not included. You need two medium E26 base lamps in A19 shape, 100W maximum each, on a 120V circuit. The fixture itself is incandescent technology, so an A19 LED retrofit in an E26 base works as long as you stay at or under the 100W rating.
    3) Can I install the Empire 60-353 vanity in a bathroom over a shower or tub?
It is rated for damp locations and indoor use only, so a bathroom with normal shower humidity is fine. It is not a wet-location fixture, so do not put it inside a shower enclosure or anywhere it takes direct water, and do not use it outdoors or in an unprotected exterior soffit.
    4) Is the NUVO Empire 60-353 ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family restroom?
No. The Empire 60-353 is not ADA compliant, and with an 8 inch extension off the wall it projects well past the 4 inch limit typically applied to objects mounted in a circulation path. For an ADA restroom wall, specify a fixture listed as ADA compliant with a shallow projection instead.
    5) Can the NUVO 60-353 vanity be mounted shades up or shades down?
Yes. The Empire 60-353 is an up-or-down wall fixture, so the two alabaster glass bell shades can face up for bounced light or down to wash the mirror and counter. Same fixture either way, no separate part number.
    6) Is the NUVO 60-353 UL listed for an inspected job?
The Empire 60-353 carries a cULus safety listing, which covers both US and Canadian installations, and it is RoHS compliant. Note that it carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead.
    7) What finish and shade style does NUVO 60-353 come in, and will it match other Empire fixtures?
One configuration only: Textured White metal body with two alabaster glass bell shades, each 6.22 inches in diameter and 4 inches high. It is part of the NUVO Empire collection in a transitional style, so it coordinates with other Empire pieces if you are standardizing a unit turn or a corridor of bathrooms.
