NUVO Lighting 60-4801 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the NUVO 60-4801 fixture be mounted on a wall and on a ceiling?
The 60-4801 is a dual surface mount fixture, so it installs on either a wall or a ceiling surface. It uses a mounting bar (Wall: Bar) over a standard outlet box, and with a 5 inch diameter and only 2.38 inch extension off the surface it stays tight to the plane either way. At 0.65 lbs it puts almost no load on the box.
2) What bulb does the NUVO 60-4801 take, and is one included?
It takes one medium (E26) screw base lamp, and no bulb ships with the fixture. NUVO specs it for a G25 globe shape at 60W maximum on 120V. Buy lamps separately; dimming depends entirely on the lamp you put in it, since the fixture itself has no driver.
3) Is the NUVO 60-4801 OK in a bathroom or over a shower?
It carries a damp location rating and is an indoor fixture, so a bathroom ceiling or vanity wall is within rating. Directly in a shower or tub enclosure is not - that calls for a wet location listed fixture. The fixture is cULus safety listed.
4) Will the NUVO 60-4801 meet ADA requirements for a corridor wall in my building?
No. The 60-4801 is not ADA compliant, and it projects 2.38 inches off the surface. For an accessible route where protruding objects are limited, pick a fixture specifically listed as ADA compliant instead.
5) Can I put an LED bulb in the NUVO 60-4801 instead of incandescent?
Yes. It is an incandescent-technology fixture with a plain E26 medium socket rated 60W at 120V, so any medium base LED at or under 60W will work, including G25 globe LEDs that match the intended lamp shape. If you need dimming, choose a dimmable lamp and a compatible wall dimmer, because the fixture contributes no dimming of its own.
6) What finish does the NUVO 60-4801 come in, and will it match other brushed nickel trim?
Brushed nickel is the only finish offered on the 60-4801, over a steel body. It reads as a contemporary style small round surface fixture, 5 inches across, so it pairs with brushed nickel faucets and door hardware in a bath or hallway. If you are standardizing a building on a different finish, this model will not get you there.
7) How much light does a single 5 inch surface fixture like the NUVO 60-4801 cover?
It is a one-lamp fixture at 60W maximum, which makes it a supplemental or small-room light: a closet, a small bath, a hall, a utility space, or in pairs flanking a mirror. For general lighting in a bedroom or living space, plan on multiple units or a larger multi-lamp fixture.
8) Does the NUVO 60-4801 carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes, lead is the listed Prop 65 chemical for the 60-4801. The fixture is RoHS compliant. If you are buying for a California jobsite or a public agency, the Prop 65 lead warning is the one to pass along to the specifier.
9) Is the NUVO 60-4801 color temperature selectable?
No, there is no CCT switch on the fixture. Color temperature comes entirely from the lamp you install in the E26 socket, so order bulbs at the Kelvin value you want for the space, 2700K or 3000K for warm residential, 4000K for a crisper commercial look.
