NUVO Lighting 60-4972 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the NUVO Boxwood 60-4972 wall lantern be mounted in an exposed location that gets rained on?
Yes. The Boxwood 60-4972 carries a wet location rating and is built as an outdoor fixture, so it can go on an open wall, an unroofed entry, or anywhere direct rain hits it. Safety listing is cULus.
    2) How much wall space do I need for the Boxwood 60-4972 outdoor lantern, and how far does it stick out?
It stands 22 inches tall with an 8 inch diameter body, and the extension from the wall is 7.88 inches. Plan for roughly 8 inches of projection when siting it beside a door swing or along a walkway where people pass close to the wall.
    3) Does the Boxwood 60-4972 wall lantern come with a bulb, and what type do I need to order?
No bulb is included. You will need one medium base E26 lamp in an A19 shape, rated up to 100W maximum on 120V. Most buyers put an LED A19 in it, which draws far less than the 100W ceiling.
    4) Is the Boxwood 60-4972 lantern ADA compliant for a commercial corridor or covered walkway?
No. The Boxwood 60-4972 is not ADA compliant, and with a 7.88 inch extension it projects well past the 4 inch limit that governs wall mounted objects in circulation paths. For a walkway or corridor where protrusion rules apply, choose an ADA rated flush sconce instead.
    5) Can I put the Boxwood 60-4972 exterior lantern on a dimmer switch?
Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you install, since the fixture is a straight incandescent style socket with no driver of its own. Fit a dimmable LED A19 and pair it with a compatible dimmer, and it dims; fit a non-dimmable lamp and it will not.
    6) Is the Boxwood 60-4972 light enough for a single installer to hang on a junction box?
At 5.05 lbs it is a one-person hang on a standard wall mounted outdoor box. It is a wall mount only fixture, not rated for post or pier mounting.
    7) Does the Boxwood 60-4972 have a Prop 65 warning, and is it RoHS compliant?
It is RoHS compliant, and it carries a California Prop 65 warning for lead. If you are buying for a California jobsite or a public agency spec, that lead disclosure is the one to flag in your submittal.
    8) Does the Boxwood 60-4972 offer selectable color temperature?
No, there is no CCT selection on the fixture. Color temperature is set by whatever E26 lamp you install, so if you need 3000K across a property, buy the lamps to that spec and the fixture will follow.
