NUVO Lighting 60-536 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the NUVO 60-536 spider cage fixture be used in an uncovered outdoor location exposed to rain?
Yes. The 60-536 carries a Wet location rating and is built for outdoor use, so it can go on an open soffit, an exterior stair ceiling, or a dock canopy where rain and spray reach it. Housing is die cast aluminum with a frosted glass lens, and it is cULus safety listed.
    2) What bulb does the NUVO 60-536 cage fixture take, and is one included?
It takes a single medium base (E26) A19 lamp, and no bulb ships with the fixture, so order lamps separately. Maximum is 60W at 120V. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you install, since the fixture itself is just a socket and lens.
    3) How much ceiling space does the 60-536 cage light need, and how far does it drop?
Plan on an 11.38 inch square footprint and 5 inches of projection off the ceiling. That shallow drop is why it works in low-headroom spots like exterior stairwells, walk-in corridors, and parking structure soffits where a pendant would get hit. The fixture weighs 4.24 lbs, light enough for a standard 4 inch round or octagon box.
    4) Can I put an LED A19 in the NUVO 60-536 instead of incandescent?
The fixture is classed as incandescent technology with a 60W maximum, but the socket is a standard E26 medium base taking an A19 shape, so any A19 LED rated at or under 60 watts drops straight in. Dimming behavior follows the lamp, not the fixture, so pair a dimmable LED with your existing dimmer if you need control.
    5) Will the NUVO 60-536 mount on a wall, or is it ceiling only?
Ceiling mount is the stated mounting method for the 60-536. The style is bulkhead, so the look suits an exterior wall, but the fixture is specified for ceiling installation. If you need the same cage look on a wall above a door, spec a wall mount bulkhead instead.
    6) What finish does the NUVO 60-536 come in if I'm standardizing a building's exterior fixtures?
One finish only: textured black. There is no other color option on the 60-536, so a multi-building standardization comes out uniform, but if your existing exteriors are bronze or white you will not match them with this model.
    7) Is the glass on the NUVO 60-536 clear or diffused?
Frosted. The single glass lens is frost finish, which softens glare under the cage instead of throwing a hard filament image. Useful over entries and walkways where occupants look up into the fixture.
    8) Does the NUVO 60-536 carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes, lead is the listed Prop 65 chemical for the 60-536. The fixture is also RoHS compliant. Institutional and government buyers who need the warning on file for a submittal should note lead as the identified substance.
