The Polaris 60-608 carries a damp location rating and is listed for indoor use, so a bathroom ceiling or a covered porch soffit is fine. A damp rating does not cover direct water contact, so it should not go inside a shower or tub enclosure where a wet-location fixture is required. It is cULus safety listed.

Bulbs are not included. You need two A19 lamps with a medium E26 base, each rated 60W maximum, on a 120V circuit. The fixture is incandescent technology, so standard A19 incandescent or an E26 LED/CFL A19 replacement within that wattage will work. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you choose, not the fixture, so if you are putting it on a dimmer buy dimmable lamps.

It projects 4.88 inches down from the ceiling and measures 13.5 inches in diameter, which is why it works in hallways, closets, laundry rooms and low basements where a semi-flush or pendant would be in the way. It mounts directly to the ceiling box.
