NUVO Lighting SF77-060 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What bulb does the NUVO SF77-060 mushroom flush mount take, and is one included?
It takes one A19 lamp with an E26 medium screw base, rated up to 60W at 120V. No bulb ships with the fixture, so order lamps separately. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you put in it, since there is no driver in the fixture.
2) Can the SF77-060 mushroom fixture go in a bathroom or over a laundry sink?
Damp location rated and indoor only, so a bathroom ceiling or an interior laundry room is within rating. Do not use it on a covered porch, soffit, or anywhere exposed to direct water or weather, that needs a wet-rated fixture.
3) How much ceiling space does this NUVO flush mount cover, and will it hide an old 4 inch octagon box?
The shade measures 7.5 inches in diameter and the fixture projects 5 inches down from the ceiling. A 7.5 inch canopy footprint covers a standard 4 inch octagon or round ceiling box. It is ceiling mount only, not wall mount.
4) Is this NUVO mushroom flush mount UL listed for multi-family and rental work?
It carries a cULus safety listing, so it is accepted for both US and Canadian installations. At 5 inches of projection and 1.56 lbs it is light enough for routine replacement on existing boxes, which is why this style gets specified in volume for apartment hallways, closets, and utility rooms.
5) Is the NUVO SF77-060 shade glass or plastic, and what is the housing made of?
One white glass shade over a steel base. The glass is finished white rather than clear, so the lamp is diffused and the bulb is not visible through the shade.
6) Should I pick a mushroom-style close-to-ceiling fixture or a low-profile LED disk for a closet or hallway?
A close-to-ceiling fixture like this one keeps a replaceable E26 socket, so maintenance is a bulb change rather than a fixture swap, and it lets you choose lamp color and dimming behavior later. An integrated LED disk is thinner but the light source is not serviceable. Note the 5 inch projection here: in a tight closet where code clearance to shelving or stored material matters, a flatter fixture may be the better call.
7) What finish options does the NUVO SF77-060 come in if I need to match other ceilings in the building?
SF77-060 is built in white only, with a white glass shade. For a fleet of units on a standardization program that means one part number, one look, no finish selection to track. If you need a different metal finish you are looking at a different model in the mushroom line.
8) Does this NUVO flush mount require a Prop 65 warning in California?
Yes. Lead is identified as a CA Prop 65 listed chemical for this fixture, so a Prop 65 warning applies for California jobs. The fixture is also RoHS compliant.
