The 1 inch PVC adapter is included with the 34085. You supply the PVC drain pipe, solvent cement, and any fittings needed to route the line to the discharge point.

Either one. The Oatey aluminum pan is rated for installation under gas or electric water heaters to protect the floor from leaks and condensate.

Pan depth is a minimum of 2.5 inches, with a stated volume of 1.417. That depth is meant to contain a slow leak long enough to drain it away, not to hold a full tank failure, so the drain line to an approved receptor still has to be run.

Aluminum is the choice where the pan may see heat from a gas burner or foot traffic during service. The 34085 is formed from .032 prime aluminum and weighs 2.5, so it holds its shape under a full tank without flexing the way a thin plastic pan can. Plastic pans are lighter to handle and will not corrode, but aluminum is what most inspectors expect under a gas heater.

It is built to meet the requirements of the Southern Building Code. Beyond the pan itself, your local jurisdiction will dictate where the drain terminates and the minimum drain size, so confirm the receptor location on your permit set.
