OATEY 14057 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe sizes does the Oatey 14057 Master Flash fit?
The 14057 Master Flash collar is cut to fit pipe from 6.75 inches up to 13.5 inches in diameter. The EPDM collar is molded in stepped rings, so you trim it to the ring that matches your pipe and stretch it over for a tight seal. Anything smaller than 6.75 inches needs a different size in the Master Flash range.
2) Will a roof flashing boot work on a ribbed metal or tile roof, or only flat shingle?
The Master Flash 14057 is engineered for profiled roofing systems at any pitch, so ribbed metal, corrugated, and tile panels are what it is built for. The base is pliable enough to form down into the profile, then you bed it in silicone sealant and fasten with sheet metal screws.
3) How big is the base on the Oatey 14057, and will it cover my existing hole?
The base measures 17 x 17 inches, which gives you a square footprint around the penetration. With a pipe at the top of the range (13.5 inches), that leaves only a couple of inches of flange on each side, so check your fastener line has material to land on before you commit.
4) What do I need to buy along with the Master Flash flashing to install it?
Two things aren't in the box: silicone sealant to bed between the base and the roof surface, and sheet metal screws to fasten the flange down. Plan on both for every installation.
5) Can one flashing boot cover several different pipe diameters across a roof?
Yes, within the 6.75 to 13.5 inch band. Because the collar is trimmed on site to suit the pipe, the same 14057 part covers everything in that range, which cuts the number of SKUs an MRO or roofing crew has to carry for large penetrations.
6) Will the collar on this roof flashing crack or fade after a few summers?
The collar is non-fading EPDM and the body material stays pliable rather than going brittle, so it is not meant to crack or break in service. That is the main reason crews pick an EPDM boot over a rigid plastic one on exposed roofs.
