OATEY 34315 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Oatey 34315 PEX toilet riser be sold or installed in California?
The sales restriction on California, Maryland and Vermont applies to Oatey #34015, not the 34315. If your order sheet lists 34015, that is the part those three states exclude.
2) What standards does the Oatey 34315 toilet riser meet?
It meets the performance requirements of ASME A112186, ASTM F876 and ASTM F877. F876 and F877 are the PEX tubing and hot/cold PEX system standards, which is what a plumbing inspector will be looking for on a potable water supply line.
3) What part number do I order for the 12 inch Oatey PEX toilet riser?
Oatey 34315. That is the manufacturer part number and the only model on the item, so there are no length or finish options to specify when you order.
4) Is the Oatey 34315 riser a flexible PEX line or a rigid tube?
It is polyethylene, so it flexes enough to route around a slight offset between the stop and the tank without a bend tool. It also means no chrome finish to scratch and no crimped metal braid, and the body is white.
5) Is a PEX toilet riser a good choice for a property manager replacing supply lines across a lot of units?
PEX risers like the Oatey 34315 are a common fleet choice because the install is quick, there is nothing to solder, and the same 12 inch part repeats from unit to unit. Each one weighs about 0.052, so a case of them is easy to carry on a turn cart. If some of your units run longer distances from the stop to the tank, standardize on the length that covers the worst opening rather than the average one.
