Steel City SC-2001 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What conductor size does the Steel City SC-2001 service cable cap fit?
The SC-2001 oval service entrance cable cap is sized for three 3/0 to 4/0 conductors. If your service drop uses larger or smaller conductors than that, this is the wrong cap size.
2) Is the SC-2001 service cable cap UL listed?
Yes. The Steel City SC-2001 carries UL file E15170, which is what an inspector or a utility will want to see on a service entrance weatherhead installation.
3) Does the Steel City SC-2001 cable cap come with the insulator?
It ships with the insulator included, so you are not sourcing the porcelain or plastic insulator block separately for the three conductors.
4) What does an oval service cable cap like the SC-2001 actually do on a service entrance?
It caps the top of the service entrance raceway or SE cable run and turns the conductors downward through an insulator so rain cannot follow them into the conduit. The oval body of the SC-2001 accommodates three conductors side by side in the 3/0 to 4/0 range.
5) What is the SC-2001 cable cap made of?
Steel. The SC-2001 is a steel oval-body service cable cap, which is the usual choice on steel conduit service masts rather than a die-cast or plastic head.
6) Is the SC-2001 sold individually or in a box?
Sold each, one cap per unit, so order one per service entrance you are terminating.
7) Where is the Steel City SC-2001 manufactured?
India. Worth knowing if your project has country-of-origin reporting or Buy America requirements on electrical materials.
